Welcome Message
Welcome to Nursery at Gwaunfarren Primary school. We aim to create a warm, nurturing and caring environment for our youngest children.
Topic Overview
In the nursery we do not follow a topic. The children bring the ideas and we structure the learning opportunities around these. We also ensure important days or events are included so the children are exposed to new ideas.
We use lots of real life experiences to make learning as fun as possible for all children.
All areas of our classroom are accessible for the children to use and encourage children to be creative.
We are keen for our children to be independent and encourage them to try things for themselves.
Our aim is that children enjoy every minute of their nursery experience.
Need to know days
Scooter day is on Friday - Pupils may bring their bikes or scooters to school. Please ensure they bring a helmet too!
We spend a lot of time outdoors so please ensure the children have a pair of wellies in school and are dressed appropriately for the weather.
Things to do at home
There are many simple activities that you can do at home to support your child:
-Encourage your child to chat to you about things they like and dislike, things they enjoy doing, things that make them happy or sad etc.
-Read stories or look at books together. Ask your child to use the pictures to tell you a story. Encourage your child to hold the book and turn the pages one at a time.
- Count with your child when you can eg, when going upstairs or putting plates on the table etc.
-Sing songs and number rhymes.
-Allow your child to attempt to put on their own coat etc.
Milk and Fruit
Milk is offered daily to Foundation Phase pupils free of charge.
Children can either bring in their own fruit or we sell snack such as toast, fruit, porridge, etc for £1 a week. The money we raise from selling snack is used to buy resources for the children in the class.
Additional Information
We use class dojo to communicate with parents. Please ask us how to join our nursery page.
Please ensure we have a change of clothes in school for the children incase of accidents or spillages. (Any old spare clothes are fine- it doesn’t need to be uniform)
